Established 2015

The owners of Stowe, Vermont's famous Blue Donkey purchased the old railroad station in Morrisville in 2012. They restored the building's original glory and but added a new level of comfort and luxury. Their goal was to bring something a little different to Morrisville with good American pub fare, excellent service and an atmosphere of simple elegance meant for all to enjoy. But an empty room in the back end of the building was sadly left untouched. Attempting to show off all of this beautifully refurbished gem, they chose this room as the location of their newest venture, Mo Vegas Fill Station. We feel like a part of the growing initiative to reinvigorate Morrisville’s historic downtown with new commerce.

History

Once the proud centerpiece of Vermont’s east-west shipping industry, the Morrisville Depot was the gem of a trainline that stretched as far east as Portland, Maine, and as far West as Ogdensburg, New York. Built in 1872, the building has always been more than just a transit station to locals; it has been where hungry and thirsty travelers have come to gather. As early as 1884 the 24 by 55 foot Depot Restaurant was added to the station; the dining room of our neighbors at 10 Railroad Street. In 1900 a poolroom was added to the building’s east side - this is our home! Unfortunately trains have not passed by since 1994, however in 2014 the rails were given new life. Now bikers, hikers, skiers, and snowmobilers can pass by on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail during all four seasons see the depot as the trains once did.

Meet the Business Owners

Kim K. and Jimmy G. have been restaurant owners for 15 years, starting with an old fashioned malt shop in New York City. Almost a decade ago they took their successful Blue Donkey and moved with it with them to Stowe, VT. There, they focused on perfecting a simple yet delicious menu of burgers, fires, and barbeque. In 2012 they opened 10 Railroad Street in Morrisville. This restaruant blended their earlier experiences with an upscale twist. The food is a little more serious than burgers (although the Blue Donkey burger is still their best seller)! Steak, prime rib, clams, fish, mac n' cheese... all made in house. Now, with Mo Vegas Fill Station they hope to boost the local food culture into the stratosphere! They are enjoying the Morrisville community and hope to bring culinary joy to its people.
